Camera Setups

Posted by: Clay Taylor @ 4:52 pm

Since I work of Swarovski Optik North America, I cheat-I have access to all the binoculars and spotting scopes. I do get to choose which ones I want to use, but sometimes the choice is determined by other factors than the birds and the location. I will normally take the STS 80 HD scope when I am expecting to use the Car Window Mount a lot, and the ATS 65 HD when I want to do butterflies and dragonflies because of the 10-foot minimum focusing distance. The ATS 80 HD is most often used, especially when I’m birding with others.

I am definitely an avid D-SLR digiscoper, although I will use the Canon A570 when I need REALLY big magnifications, low shutter speeds, or to take movies of really rare or interesting stuff.
